Integration
Operational Data Stores
An
operational data store, or ODS, is similar to
a data warehouse in that it stores data, however,
the information in an ODS is not static like
that of a data warehouse. An ODS contains ever
changing business operations data, to allow
for simple queries on small amounts of data.
If a client has critical information that they
need a snapshot of, ProLink can implement an
ODS and allow for quick queries to run efficiently
and effectively. As companies become ever more
competitive and time is a critical component
of success, ProLink can help our clients reach
their real-time data more effectively. An ODS
can help by maintaining smaller amounts of critical
data than stored in a data warehouse and retains
only the most recent, up-to date information.
Meta
Data
As
companies begin to focus on integrating data
across the enterprise, metadata is absolutely
essential to the process. By capturing metadata,
an enterprise can be assured that there is consistency
in the capture and dissemination of data through
the enterprise. Metadata is captured through
various methods such as
data modeling tools, reporting tools, ETL tools,
HR packages, etc…. The consolidation of
this metadata is critical to the success of
an integration project within an enterprise.
By consolidating this information, the company
gains insight into how various business processes
contribute to the capture of metadata. More
importantly, exposing this metadata to the end-user
population is a valuable asset. Once this information
is disseminated, the various metrics and business
processes that drive the enterprise are exposed
and are defined consistently, which creates
a cohesive data environment.
ProLink
works with the organizations within your enterprise
to understand how metadata is currently captured
across the organization. ProLink will look for
the synergy between the organizations and create
a metadata model that can drive your enterprise
integration efforts.
ETL
Companies
know they have disparate data in their systems
and need to get it from one place to another.
ETL or extract, transform, load, is a process
by which we gather, convert and store data,
from several locations. The data is often
converted form one form to another in order
to load the information into a data warehouse.
This allows analysts to then manage the data
and use it for the clients needs. When the ETL
has been completed a user then has one version
of the Truth. All of the necessary data is provided
in one data warehouse or data mart.
EAI
Enterprise
Application Integration is a process by which
data and processes are shared in an unrestricted
environment which then allows it to be accessed
by a variety of systems. EAI usually involves
a set of processes, tools, technologies and
methodologies to consolidate, organize and connect
all of our clients business computer applications.
This places the information into an interfaced
framework of system components to allow real-time
analytics, exchange and management of our clients
critical information. This allows for a free
exchange of data between systems and a knowledge
transfer to all of the systems in a customers
business.
