AT&T
Challenge:
AT&T Wirless/TeleCorp PCS implemented the
Convergys Atlas wireless billing platform which
required the conversion of several billing systems
under extreme deadlines. A Deployment Management
Office (DMO) needed to be established to ensure
all conversion activities were completed successfully
and on time. The effort required centralized
tracking and consolidated reporting of projects
and other program activities and establishing
a center of excellence for defining and promoting
consistent and effective project management
practices.
Solution:
ProLink was engaged to support the activities
in establishing the DMO. The team was responsible
for defining, implementing and managing the
following components of the DMO:

Planning
and executing Production Readiness for all
minor and major releases

Implementing
project management best practices and train
the trainer program

Developing
and implementing project standards, procedures
and metrics

Implementing
a program to improve competence and skills
of all project managers through training,
coaching and mentoring

Coordinating
all aspects of system implementation
-
Developing
and managing Deployment framework including
detailed Project plans and schedules, Communication
plans, Contingency plans, Risk mitigation
plans, Business impact assessments, and
Environment architecture plans

Managing
and directing resources from cross-functional
teams (Business, IT, Operations, Engineering,
Production Support, 3rd Party Vendors) against
project work plans and executed effective
deployments to keep projects on track, on
time and within budget
Result:
With the DMO in place, AT&T Wireless/Telecorp
PCS was able to convert two complex system conversions
for disparate AT&T wireless subsidiaries
to a common Billing platform and successfully
complete one major system upgrade within the
defined timeframe. More than 1 million subscribers
were successfully converted into an integrated
billing, customer care, provisioning and mediation
processing system allowing AT&T Wireless
and TeleCorp PCS to successfully merge into
one integrated company.
